from HHH's wiki page : On May 28, 1996, Triple H appeared on WWF Superstars against a jobber named Marty Garner.[17] When Helmsley attempted to use the Pedigree, Garner mistook the maneuver for a double-underhook suplex and tried to jump up with the move, causing him to land squarely on top of his head and suffer neck damage.[17] Garner sued the WWF, eventually settling out of court, and later appeared on an episode of the Montel Williams Show discussing the incident. This incident was captured on video, and circulated throughout the internet. However, in the video, many people often mistake Garner for Shawn Michaels, or a younger Jeff Hardy.

The incident took place on May 28, 1996. Triple H had been with the WWF[E] for almost a year and established the Pedigree as his patented finisher. Garner should have had some idea of what moves his opponent would be using as they worked the match. After all, as a jobber, it's his role to put Helmsley over.
He was probably lucky he was dropped on his head. Clearly there was no danger of him being brain damaged.
